Emily and Meranda Dum, Landis burg, teamed up to capture the champion and reserve champion 4-H dairy honors, respectively, during the Perry County 4-H Dairy Roundup held in conjunc tion with the Perry County Fair Dairy Show. Emily’s champion cow was a 3-year-old Holstein, Dumbelle Elevation Roxy. Meranda’s re serve champion was a 5-year-old dry cow, Dumbelle Inspiration Agatha. Meranda also was named champion FFA showman during the showmanship competition. The 4-H junior champion Holstein awards went to Heather Hertzler, Loysville with her winter year ling, Little Ridge Juniper. The 4-H reserve junior champion Holstein animal was a winter calf, San tee-Acres Highlite Satin, exhibited by Amanda My ers, Millerstown. The best bred-and-owned 4-H ani mal was awarded to a heifer exhibited by Marel Raub, Duncannon. Keith Leber. Slain, exhibited the grand champion Jersey. Krista Byers, Millerstown, exhibited the grand champion, reserve grand champion, and junior champion animals in the FFA dairy show. Krista also won the reserve champion FFA showmanship award. Josh Loy, Loysville showed the reserve jun ior champion animal. Tracey Sauder, Ickesburg, showed the best bred and owned FFA dairy animal. Beef Expo Moves To Harrisburg HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) The fifth an nual Pennsylvania Beef Expo has been scheduled for the Farm Show Complex here on April 8-10, 1994. The Beef Expo annually attracts representatives of all beef cattle production and marketing seg ments as well as a large number of consumers. In previous years, the Beef Expo has been held at Penn State’s Ag Arena in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Meat Animal Evaluation Center’s Performance-tested Bull Sale. Next spring, the sale will be held at University Park on March 2511994, a few weeks before the Beef Expo. The tentative schedule for the 1994 Beef Expo calls for an education program, which will empha size cattle feeding and marketing, on Friday in the new addition to the Farm Show Complex. The pro gram, which has been popular with cattlemen, will be of interest to all segments of the industry. The annual exhibitor reception and Cattlemen’s Award Banquet, including entertainment, will be held Fri day evening, April 8. Trade Show exhibitors will arrive at the Expo Thursday afternoon, April 7. More than 60 com mercial exhibitors are expected. Special exhibit cattle which are not for sale will also be penned on Thursday. All sale cattle, including Angus, Charolais, Chi anina, Limousin, Polled Hereford, Salers, and Sim mental, will arrive by noon Friday. Cattle sales and preview shows are planned for Saturday, with some breed sales to be held simultaneously in two sale rings. Breeders interested in consigning animals should contact their respective Pennsylvania breed associations. Youth activities will begin on Saturday evening and continue with junior shows on Sunday, April 10. Several special activities for youth are planned. Fleisher also exhibited the junior champion of the open show, a senior yearling, Buff-Del CC Logic Cal. The type judge for the show was Don Gable, an Ayrshin Dairy Honors breeder from Elverson.
