How Does Your Herd Compare?
STATE COLLEGE (Centre Co.) —This data is pulled from Pennsyl
vania DHIA’s mainframe computer each week. It is i one-week sum
mary representing approximately one-fourth of the herds on test, as they
are tested monthly.
These data are valuable from a business management standpoint and
can be used for comparing your operations to the averages from almost
1,400 herds across the state.

exhibitor, who faced strong com
petition, “like most fairs in Lan
caster County,” he said.
Bill Curley, Tri-State Breeders,
said the dairy champion, a 2-year
old Red and White Holstein, is a
“real fine individual,” an animal

Natalie Glunz, dairy nutrition
specialist from Agway, sheep
judge, said Ann Leed’s Dorset ewe
will make a “fine brood ewe for
the young lady,” and commented
on the animal’s “natural thickness
and muscling.” She said it was a
real nice example of the Dorset
breed.
Dr. Robert Herr, goat judge,
commented on Amy Smith’s
champion animal, and about how
the meat goat will provide a very
desirable carcass in a growing
industry.
