LAURELTON (Union
Co.) A 3-year-old Jersey own
ed by Rebecca Dietrich, of Mif
flinburg, was recently named
supreme champion dairy cow of
the four-breed Union County West
End Fair dairy show, held in
Laurelton.
Dietrich’s Four Springs Chief
Juliet was named open and FFA
senior and grand champion Jersey,
by show judge David Hill of Ship
pensburg. Juliet then went into the
ring with the other grand champ
ions from the Ayrshire. Holstein,
and Brown Swiss breeds to win the
supreme title of the 114-animal
show.
The open and FFA reserve
senior and reserve grand champion
Jersey was a junior 2-year-old,
J&K Vue Juno Fancy, shown by
Douglas Boop, pf Millmont.
Hoop’s Fancy was also named best
owner-bred animal shown by a
youth.
The open and 4-H division
junior champion Jersey was an
intermediate yearling, DAD
Juicyfruit, bred and owned by
Jonathan Dietrich.
In the Ayrshire breed, the open
and 4-H division senior and grand
champion animal was a 3-year-old
cow, Brad’s Rambling Rose, own
ed by Daniel Rishel, of New
Columbia.
Rishel also showed the open and
4-H reserve grand champion Ayr
shire, Palace Omega.
In the Holstein breed, the grand
and reserve grand champions are
paternal sister, both daughters of
Fisher-Place Mandingo-twin.
The grand champion was
3-year-old J&K Vue Mandingo

CHAMBERSBURG (Franklin
Co.) “A fine two-year-old
that’s going to get better,” is how
judge Creedin Comman described
the grand champion of the 23rd
annual Franklin County Holstein
Show. Windy-Knoll-View Pisazz-
ET, a senior-two-year-old with a
tremendous frame and prominent
dairy qualities was shown by Jus
tin Burdette, 14, of Mercersburg.
The show was held in conjunction
with the Franklin County Fair at
the Chambersburg Rod and Gun
Club.
Senior and Grand Champion of
both the open and youth shows,
Pisazz was also named best bred
and owned. Pisazz was reserve
grand champion of the 4-H show
two days before her Franklin
County Fair victory, and was the
Southcentral Championship
Show’s Grand Champion August
14.
Her full sister, Windy-Knoll-
View DM Pct-ET, was reserve
senior and grand champion of the
youth show. Pete was shown by
Justin’s brother, Kyle.
Half-sisters of Pet and Pisazz
won the junior and reserve junior
champion awards at the show. All
are daughters of Windy-Knoll-
View Ultimate Pala. Kyle showed
the junior champion, Windy-
Knoll-View Petrina-ET, while
Justin had the reserve champ,
Windy-Knoll-View CC Pear-ET.
Reserve senior and reserve
grand champion was C Grafton
Astro Brenda, owned by Quentin
& Elenor Beisel of Dry Run. She
was also best-uddered cow of the
Dietrich’s Jersey Supreme At West End Fair
Jonathan Boop, also of Millmont.
The reserve .grand champion
was a senior 2-year-old. Den-ann
Mandongo Casey, was shown by
Jason Wolfe, of Lewisburg.
Wolfe’s Casey was also named
grand champion of the 4-H Hols
tein division.
Douglas Boop’s 4-year-old
Holstein was named FFA division
grand champion. Richard Klingler,
of Winfield, showed the junior
champion, an intermediate calf
sired by Glenafton Enhancer.
In the Brown Swiss show,
3-year-old My T Fine Snowwhite,
shown by Amy Sanders, of Mill
mont, was named grand and senior
champion. Snowwhite is a Con
vincer daughter.
Mark Mapes, of New Berlin,
showed the reserve grand champ
ion of the show, also a 3-year-old.
Sarah Beck, of new Columbia,
showed the open and 4-H junior
champion Brown Swiss, a junior
calf. Dawn Rise Blend Alexis
twin.

for the Beisels.
El-Dor Farm, owned by Eldon
and Dorothy Crider of Chambers
burg, took home both the Premier
Breeder and Premier Exhibitor
banners.
Judge Creedin Cornman of
Just-A-Beauty Holsteins, Carlisle,
said that this was a tremendous
show for good dairy cows. “Lots
of classes had depth of quality, es
pecially the younger heifer class
es,” he said. “It was an honor to
judge here." '
Franklin County Holstein Club
president Bob Eckstine stopped
the parade of first-place cows vy
ing for the grand championship.
He paid tribute to the late Merle
Woodring, who died December 21
at the age of 54. Woodring had ex
hibited his Ment-Wood Holsteins
at all 23 previous shows. A past
president of the Holstein Club,
Woodring had also served as lead
er of the 4-H Dairy Club, assistant
fair manager and fair board presi
dent.
Eckstine presented a plaque to
Woodring’s widow, Nancy, and
son Craig and family.
