E-Town Sheep Exhibitors ANDY ANDREWS Lancaster Fanning Staff ELIZABETHTOWN (Lancas ter Co.) —Sometimes you have to go to great lengths to win a sheep championship. If you want to find out how far, just ask the Elizabethtown Fair supreme champion sheep winner Ann Leid. To obtain the champion, a Dorset fall ewe lamb, she traveled with parents Robert and Nancy Leid to the Eastern Stud Ram and Ewe Sale inStaunton,Va. Ann, 11, Meyers town, Lebanon County, is in the sixth grade at Elco and helps maintain 30 head of Dorsets and Hampshires on her family’s Deep Run Farm. This is the first time she showed at Eli zabethtown, and her first supreme champion at the fair. As for the market and sale champion sheep winner Lisa ReifF, she also traveled far to obtain a champion. On a Saturday in April, she traveled with ho- family to North Manchester, Ind. Why so far? The event was the Formula For Champions Sale, hosted by Tom Slack. Lisa, IS, daughter of Lloyd and Laura Reiff, Strasburg, won grand champion market and sale lajnb at the Elizabethtown Sheep Show on a hot and humid Wednesday after noon with “Bill,” Lisa’s 116-pound Suffolk wether. Bill was purchased at the Formula For Champions Sale, and this champ ionship marked four in a row for the Lampeter-Strasburg High School sophomore. Lisa, who was first in her divi sion in the showmanship portion of the event and also won the champ ion pens of three, is a member of the 4-H Woolies Club. Game Plan For A 'Winning Season!
