Chester’s 4-H Lamb Sale Another
WEST CHESTER (Chester
Co.) —The eleventh annual Ches
ter County 4-H Market Lamb Sale
held at the Goshen Fairgrounds
easily compared to other Chester
County sales in past years as the
grand champion lamb, shown by
senior member Kendra Stoltzfiis,
Elverson, was bought by Vintage
Sales Stable of Paradise for
$3.40/pound.
This was Kendra’s final year in
4-H and it ended with a champion,
a happy ending for many years
the 4-H Sh( Club.

pion lamb, which was purchased for $3.40/pound by Vint

Lamb Sale.
Contending bidder was Vintage
Sales Stable. Walter M. Dunlap &
Sons, represented by Ken Smoker,
purchased the champion medium
weight for $2/pound, shown by
Leah Mast of Elverson and then
donated the lamb to then be resold
to benefit the 4-H Center. That
lamb then sold for 55.50/pouriS to
the Friends of the 4-H Center, who
then resold it to again benefit the
Center when it was finally bought
by Peg Kauffman for
$1.60/pound
The champion lightweight was
purchased by Keystone Farm
Credit for $1.70/pound. That lamb
was shown by Hans Stoltzfus, bro
ther of Kendra and Maria. The re
serve champion medium weight
shown by Jesse Coleman and the
reserve champion lightweight
shown by Katie Coleman were
purchased by ACT Graphics, East
Rutherford, NJ. for $1.45 and
SI.SS/a pound respectfully. AGT
Graphics was represented by Dan
Coleman.
The overall average of the sale
was $1.66/pound on all 37 lambs
sold, breaking the current market
' price by almost $1.06 per pound.
Aqilante’s Meat Market, Berwyn,
was the volume buyer of the eve
ning, purchasing 10 lambs.
