•NOTE: In 4-H and FFA dairy conloiu. a blue
nbbon presented to an animal by the judge indi
cates that animal’s eligibility m the next larger
regional contest. Because a judge is fiee toaward
ribbons as he or she determines and because a
judge also places cattle based on show-day com
petition, red-nbboned animals are reported m the
results and annotated with the symbol (R).

Maryland Grange Donation
WASHINGTON. D.C. The
- National Grange, the nation’s old
est agricultutal organization, con
tinues its 126 years of community
service by establishing a National
Grange Flood Relief Fund to aid
victims of the flooding in the
Midwest.
The Maryland State Grange
was one of the fust state Granges
to make a donation to this fund.
Persons wishing to contribute
may do so by sending a check
made payable to Grange Flood
Relief to National Grange Flood
Relief Fund. 1616 H Street, NW,
Washington, DC 20006-4999,
Attention Robert Barrow.
National Grange Master Robert
Barrow said, “I have talked with
our state leaders in the three most
affected states, Illinois, lowa and
Missouri to determine how we
could be of the most help. They
said money to purchase the most
immediate needs of food and clo
thing and other essential items is
what’s needed now.” Barrow said,
“We immediately set up a Grange
Flood Relief Fund and sent a mail
ing to 4,000 local Grange chapters
asking for donations. These funds
will be divided between the three
states for distribution by their
respective relief committees.”
Helping members and non
members alike in times of natural
disaster is a tradition of the
Grange.
In 1992 Grangers nationwide
sent donations to a relief effort
spearheaded by the Florida State
Grange for victims of Hurricane
Andrew.
Cows get acid indigestion,
too. Under modem feeding
practices, rumen pH can
fluctuate outside the 6.2 to
6.8 optimum range. If this
occurs, bacteria are impaired
and digestion slows down.
So does milk production.
Supplementing your rations
with ARM & HAMMER®
brand rumen buffer helps nor
malize rumen digestion and
keeps your cows in high gear
for maximum performance.
Don’t lose a pound of
production. Contact your
