Adams 4-H Fair
Forty-two dairy animals were
paraded before die judges during
the Adams County 4-H Fair held
Saturday. July 31, at the South
Mountain Fairgrounds near
Arendtsville.
Jed Beshore of New Cumber-'
land, placed the animals on the
basis of type. Fitting and show
manship was judged by Sue
Beshore of New Cumberland.
Thirty Holsteins were shown.
Melinda Wenger of Littlestown
showed the first place aged cow,
Dawn-to-Dusk Truxton Muffy
Pan, which was named senior
champion. Reserve honors went to
the aged cow shown by Brian
Coulson of Carlisle.
A winter yearling, Ke-Holtz
Bert Kitten, showed by Shannon
Holtzinger of East Berlins earned
junior champion honors. A winter
(intermediate) calf shown by Ash-
leigh Van Lieu of East Berlin was
named reserve junior champion
holstein.

Fall Call Class: 1. Hsathsr King,
Gardners.
Summsr Yaariing; 1. Anthony Hill, York
Springs; 2. Langdon Ramsburg, Gettysburg;
3. Kannsth C. Wsngsr, Litdastown.
Three Jerseys were shown with
the following results: The first
place winter calf shown by Carrie
Stevens of York Springs was
named junior champion. Her
spring yearling placed first and
was made reserve junior
champion.
Carrie Stevens also showed a
4-year-old that was named Senior

Champion and honored as best
animal bred and owned for the
breed.
In a three-division showman
ship contest, senior division, Joy
Hess was named champion and
Missy Wenger was named
reserve. In the intermediate divi
sion, Anthony Hill was champion,
and Ashleigh Van Lieu was
reserve. Shannon Holtzinger won
the mini-showman contest, and
Nathan Rhodes was reserve.
These six individuals will repre
sent Adams County at regional
competition.
Jesse Murren was named
champion fitter and Carrie Ste
vens was reserve.
Eighteen animals were selected
to represent the county at the south
central district show to be held
Monday, August 23, at the Farm
Show Complex in Harrisburg.
These animals will be shown by
Joy Hess, Jonathan and Jesse Mur
ren. Matthew Guise, Shannon
Holtzinger, Nathan Rhodes, Ash
leigh Van Lieu, Heather King,
Melinda Wenger, Heidi King.
Melissa Wenger, and Carrie
Stevens.
