Dennis and Penny Reiman and their children Brad, 11; Greg, 8; and Kel
ley, 3; represent the seventh and eighth generation to live on their Dairy of
Distinction farm that was settled in 1762. They have recently doubled their
Holstein herd and are in the process of building a new three-row barn with
drive-by feeding. The cows are housed In the new f ree-stall barn and milked
in the 46 tie-stall barn. Bunker silos store haylage and will be ready for corn
silage In the fall. Even with the herd expansion, the rolling herd average is
20,700 lbs. of milk. The farm Is located In Sommerset County north of Berlin.

SOMERSET
Clover Hill Farms has been in the family for 208 years and was named a
Bicentennial Farm at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Is now one of Somerset
County’s Dairy of Distinction farms. Leon and Dorothy Jane Paul, In part
nership with son David, farm 377 acres and have 65 Holstelns that average
19,000 lbs. of milk. The Pauls milk In a tie stall barn with a pipeline system
and grow 150 acres of alfalfa, 100 acres of corn, 75 acres of oats, and 25
acres of barley. The farm is located five miles south of Berlin.
