Dairy Farm BaauttHeallon Program
Martin and Darlene Younker farm 375 acres In Berks County. Their Red
Fever Farm is located along Route 222 at Kirbyville. They have 75 cows that
average nearly 20,000 lbs. of milk. In addition, they have 40 to 50 heifers.
Their son Brian works full-time on the farm. Jim works for Sire Power and
helps at home when needed. Their daughter Kathy Is married and lives In
Snyder County. The Younkers have lived on the farm for 28 years and pur
chased it in 1985. They milk in a tie stall barn and raise corn and hay.

Gerald and Sonja Burket’s Dairy of Distinction is located three miles
north of Martinsburg In Blair County. Gerald Is a sales representative of
Youngs, Inc., but sons Doug and Darin keep busy on the farm. They milk 100
Holsteins in a tie stall barn and have a rolling herd average of 19,505 lbs. of
milk. They have 225 tillable acres and grow alfalfa, timothy and corn.
Daughter Dana is a nurse In Pittsburgh.
