The 45th Annual Key stone Stud Ram and Ewe Sale was held recently at the Penn State Agricultural Arena. The event is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Sheep and Wool Growers. Judges for the show were Kim Kin, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and Budd Westlake, Marysville, Ohio. The supreme champion ram was a Suffolk early spring ram lamb shown by James Hefner, Lima, Ohio, and sold to Timothy Ruth, Pineville, Pa., for $650. The supreme champion ewe, a Polled Dorset early fall ewe lamb con signed by Riverwood Farms. Powell, Ohio, was sold to Julie and Krista Bell. Caostown, Ohio, for $7OO. The highest selling animal of the sale was the champion Suffolk ewe consigned by James Hefner, Lima, Ohio. She sold for $BOO to Spinning Acres Farm, New Mid dletown, Ohio. The Keystone Sale was host of the 1993 National Finnsheep Sale. The high selling animal of this na tional sale was also the champion ram. This fall ram lamb was con signed by Brian Magee, Dryden, N.Y., and sold to Lonnie Cook, Mascatine, lowa, for $450. The re serve champion ram lamb was a yearling ram consigned by Lonnie and Pattie Cook, Mascatine, lowa, and was purchased by Falling Tree Ranch, Powell, Ohio, for $250. The champion ewe was a year ling ewe consigned by Lonnie and Pattie Cook, Mascatine, lowa. She was purchased by Debbra Hughes, Bangor, Pa., for $325. The reserve champion ewe was also a Cook consignment She was the second place yearling ewe and was purchased for $2OO by Wil liam and Helen Mende, Elizabeth ville. Pa. The reserve champion Suffolk ram was consigned by Sponaugle Suffolks, Grottoes. Va. This late spring ram lamb was sold to Char les King. Jr. and family. Sterling. Ohio, for S32S. The reserve champion Suffolk ewe lamb was purchased by Julie Kem, York, Pa., for $450, con signed by ECM Suffolks. Waynesboro, Va. The champion Polled Dorset ram was a yearling runt consigned by Penn State University, was pur chased by Jennifer Lawton, Far Hills. NJ. for $425. Leipsic, Ohio, for $450. The reserve champion Polled Dorset ewe was purchased by Kimberly Dennes, Garland, Ohio, for $5OO. This early fall ewe lamb was consigned by Lee and Louise Wagner, Easton, Pa. The champion Cheviot ram was a yearling ram consigned by Bill Lawter, Bainbtidge, Ind., was pur chased by David Kyle, Rush, N.Y., for $225. The reserve champion Cheviot ram was the second place yearling ram consigned by John Eaton, Windsor, Pa. He was purchased by T&C Mohan, New Boston, N.H., for $lOO. The champion Cheviot ewe was a yearling ewe consigned by Judy Moore. Eagle. Mich., and pur chased by Nancy Wctherbee, Sherman, Conn., for $2OO. The champion Shropshire ewe was a late spring ewe lamb pur chased for $225 from Wey Shrop shires, Kutztown, Pa., by Amy Sue Eshelman, Sinking Spring. Swam & Talley Tunis, Attica, NJ., consigned the reserve cham pion ram. He was the first place fall ram lamb. A fall ewe lamb consigned by Swam & Talley Tunis. Attica, N.Y., was named the champion Tunis ewe. She was purchased by Peter and Judy Harris, Ludlow, Mass., for $250.
