State Ayrshire Field Day
BELLEVILLE (Centre
Co.) The annual field day of
the Pennsylvania Ayrshire Breed
ers Association is to be held Satur
day, July 17, at John Rodgers Plum

Registration for the field day is
from 9 a.m. to noon at the farm.
There are to be many prizes
given throughout the day, includ
ing a summer calf from Plum Bot
tom Farm that is to go to the winner
of the youth (ages 8 through 14
years) judging contest.
In order to win the calf, the
youth must be present and have
judged the classes. In the event of a
tie, the score will be broken by a
contest to see who can most close
ly estimate the accumulated pro
duction of six cows.

The classes to be judged include
aged cows in milk, 2-year-olds in
milk, and a senior calf class.
In addition to the youth prizes,
contest prizes will be awarded to
the first and second place winners
of the adult women (21 years old
and older), first and second place
adult men (same age cutoff), first
and second place ladies (ages 15 to
20+). and first and second place
gents (13 to 20+).
In other association news, some
changes are anticipated for the
Ayrshire Breeders at the Pennsyl
vania All-American Dairy Show.
The first major change is that the
Elite Sale is to be held 7 p.m., Sept.
