Theresa Inhof Wears Chester
County Dairy Princess Crown
NOTTINGHAM (Chester Co.)
The fact that Chester County
ranks fourth in milk production in
the state of Pennsylvania means
that newly crowned Dairy Prin
cess Theresa Inhof and the three
new Dairy Maids have a very
important assignment to represent
the county dairy farmers and
promote milk products to the
consumers.
Theresa Inhof is the sixteen
year-old daughter of Andrew and
Linda Inhof of Spring City. She
will be a senior this fall at Owen J.
Roberts High School. Being a Star
Chapter Farmer, she is very acdve
in the FFA chapter. Currently
serving as vice president of the
chapter, Theresa is president-elect
for 1993-94. As a result of being
elected as a delegate to the state
FFA convention, she was
appointed as committee chairper
son for state and national
activities.
Farm Credit chose her project
book in “Working for Experience”
program for first place in Chester
County. Theresa was also chosen
as a delegate to the National Insti
tute of Cooperative Education
(NICE) in Denver, Colorado. In
addition, she served on the school
prom committe for 1993. When
she has time for her hobbies, they

RUTGERS, N.J. The “cur
tain” goes up for the Hunterdon
Dairy Open House at 12:30 p.m.
on Sunday June 27, at the Gor
dcuk Brothers’ Farm located off
of Route 519 south of Route 12 in
Baptistown, New Jersey. The
bovine cast is under the direction
of Bill Leendertse. All the “cattle
calls” have been made and the cast
has been selected and have work
ed hard preparing to put on a
multi-act show that is free to the
public. To kick off the afternoon
event, the public is invited to bring
a picnic lunch and needed supplies
to the farm and enjoy a real family
event in the beautiful rural hills of
Hunterdon County.
Then from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00
p.m. the entire cast, choreogra
phers, directors, and stage hands
will present the many “acts” and
include sports such as tennis and
lacrosse.
Upon graduation in 1994,
Theresa would like to attend Dela
ware Valley College and major in
agriculture education. Theresa
actively works on her family’s
dairy farm full time, by helping
milk 63 head of Holsteins. The
Inhofs have been in farming for
more than 36 years on their
325-acre farm.
Helping Theresa this year in
fullfilling her dairy promotion
duties will be the three 1993 Ches
ter County Dairy Maids; Johanna
Landis, Karen Inhof and Sarah
Laffey.
Johanna is the 15-year-old
daughter of Arden and Caroline
Landis of Christiana. Currently,
she is finishing eighth grade in the
Advanced Training Institute of
America (ATIA). Johanna is a for
mer 4-H member and enjoys play
ing the piano. Recently her family
moved; and they are now farming
45 acres in Atglen. The family
dairy herd consists of 12 Jerseys
and 36 Holsteins. Johanna owns
one cow. The Landis herd is on a
rotational pasture grazing
program.
Karen is the youngest daughter
of Andrew and Linda Inhof. She
attends Own J. Roberts High
“scenes” that make a dairy farm
work.
Act I will begin with a walking
tour of the stages that milk goes
through on the farm-from cow to
processor. Kids on tour should
note that the first 100 entering the
farm stage will receive a ticket
that entitles them to a Polaroid
photo of them hand-milking one
of the cows during the first Act.
Act II follows immediately with
displays and exhibits of antique
tractors and equipment, soil con
servation techniques and prac
tices, 4-H and youth demonstra
tions, and the display of the Dairy
Poster Award contest.
Act 111 will feature “hay rides”
around the farm with cast mem
bers describing the farming scenes
at the dordeuk Farm.
Act IV opens mid-afternoon
School as a ninth grader and is
involved in FFA. Her most impor
tant school activity is being a Teen
Leader to educate children
through the “Say No to Drugs”
program. Karen looks forward to
being a dairy maid and helping her
sister, Theresa, in dairy promotion
activities.
Sarah Laffey, 15, of Cochran
ville is a Dairy Maid for the sec
ond consecutive year. She actively
promoted the benefits of milk last
year at numerous community
affairs, and wanted to continue
participating as a Dairy Maid for
1993. Sarah is the daughter of
Michael and Kim Laffey. She
attends Octorara High School
where she is a member of the year
book staff. Track is among her
favorite school activities. Sarah
and her family live at Glenville
Farms, where her dad and uncles
are in partnership with her grand
father Norman. They milk more
than 500 cows and crop farm more
than 1,000 acres.
Theresa and the dairy maids
will be promoting dairy products
throughout Chester County. If you

Throughout the day Act V will
be running continuously on a IS
minute schedule with a video pre
sentation featuring the successful
roles agriculture plays today.
Act VI will feature free dairy
products throughout the afternoon
activities provided by the Hunter
don County Board of Agriculture,
Welsh Farms, and the NJ Depart
ment of Agriculture Dairy
Division.
