dairy promotion groups and dairy
princesses across New York state
join the American Dairy Associa
tion and Dairy Council Inc.
(ADADC) to celebrate June Dairy
Month.
For the S7th year, this month
long celebration pays tribute to the
state’s leading agricultural
industry.
Dairy promoters expand
ADADC’s June campaign. “Get
Mooovin’ with Milk,” by holding
dairy festivals, making super
market appearances, recording
public service announcements,
bolding dairy princess pageants,
and other related activities.
Consumers throughout the state
are encouraged to attend the spe
cial events to enjoy some of New
York’s finest dairy products and
learn more about the dairy
industry.
The Village Park in Canton,
N.Y., will be the center of atten
tion on June S, when a dairy para
de featuring floats using the
theme, “Milk - you like it and it
shows,” kicks-off June Dairy
Month activities in the north
country.
Local Dairy Promotion Groups Celebrate
The festival will include a
chicken bar-b-que. displays by
dairy industry processors and fra
ternal organizations, and a petting
zoo for children. WVNC-Radio
will be broadcasting “live” all day.
On June 1 in Cortland, N.Y.,
one of the largest dairy parades in
New York state begins at 6 p.m.
and ends with the coronation of
the Cortland County dairy prin
cess on the Court House steps at 8
p.m.
Wyoming County will again
hold its Dairy Festival at the fair
grounds in Pike, New York. There
will be pedal tractor races, petting
zoo, wagon rides, ice cream eating
and milking contests to name just
a few of the activities that will
take .place on June 4.
In Onondaga County, dairy
promoters will participate in the
Fanner’s Market on June IS Syra
cuse, New York by sponsoring a
milking contest, product sam
pling, and Dairy of Distinction
awards.
On June 12, in Springville,
N.Y. (Erie County), New York’s
alternate State Princesses Christy
Uhl and Jennifer Beightol are
scheduled to participate in the
Springville Dairy Festival parade.
Numerous displays, games, enter
tainment and product sampling
can be enjoyed by consumers
young and old.
In Schuyler County, dairy prin
cesses will participate in the four
day “Old McDonald’s Farm”
promotion.
Princesses and their courts will
act as tour guides and present
school programs. The first baby
bom in June will be given numer
ous gifts from the local promotion
committee, and dairy bingo will

Dairy princesses will do a
cheese promotion that includes
sampling great tasting New York
state cheeses. They will also pre
sent a program called “Milk From
the cow to You.” Over 700 child
ren attended last year’s event.
In Dryden, New York, in Mont
gomery Park, Dairy Days will
begin with a dairy parade on down

tion for the Mayor of Dryden to
compete in the annual milking
contest against local dairy
promoters.
