management information ser
vices and programs provided
by the Pennsylvania Dairy Herd
Improvement Association.
The manual is divided into 10
sections, generously illustrated
for easy reference. Each sec
tion can be ordered separately
if you want information on a
particular report, or you may

going on the option. All the
dairyman would need to do is
checkthebox on thebam sheet
to receive information with the
test reports that month or call
the state DHIA office. Up
dates will be distributed peri
odically to ensure that mem
bers have the most current
information on PA DHIA ser
vices.
The Pennsylvania Dairy Herd
Improvement Association at
State College, Pennsylvania
has an extensive computer
system that services the dairy
producers, with programs
meeting the diverse needs of
the dairy industry. The accu
racy of information supplied to

genetic improvement of dairy
cattle and increased efficiency
of herd management possible.

profit from the DHIA records.

How Does Your Herd Compare?
STATE COLLEGE (Centre Co.) —This data is pulled from Pennsyl
vania DHlA’s mainframe computer each week. It is a one-week sum
mary representing approximately one-fourth of the herds on test, as they
are tested monthly.
These data are valuable from a business management standpoint and
can be used for comparing your operations to the averages from almost
1,400 herds across the state.
