    4-H Camps

ware 4-H is offering several sum
mer camps throughout the state.
The camps are always fully sub
scribed, so early applications are
recommended. To be placed on a
mailing list to receive applications
for summer camps call one of the
following numbers: Kent County,

A statewide teen conference
will be held August 5-7 at the Uni
versity campus in Newark for
youths age 13 and older. The
program will focus on leadership
development and life skills and
will cost approximately $7O.
ages employees and their friends
to exercise on many different
machines. They have treadmills,
bikes, ski machines, rowers and
aerobic exercise classes geared to
a variety of fitness levels.
Times certainly have changed,
as when my six children were
young. I was expected to care for
them in my home. And. my exer
cise included running after them
and tending a big garden to help
feed the family.

The Lancaster County 4-H
Woolies Club met recently at the
Farm and Home Center for their
reoiganizational meeting.
The results of the election were

4-H Keystone Winners
Five Adams County 4-H mem
bers were selected as “4-H Key
stone Winner” in six National 4-H.
Award programs.
The winners were selected on
the state level through judging of a
member’s 4-H Accomplishment
Record. The top 4 or 5 individuals
in each program area were
selected as Keystone winners and
invited to Penn State for a person
al interview on May 4.
Based upon the results of the
interview, individuals will be
selected as state winners and rep
resent Pennsylvania in natioal
competition and attend National
4-H Club Congress. Club Con
gress will be held in Chicago just
after Thanksgiving.
The Adams County Keystone
winners are Beth Green, Gettys
burg, in food preservation: Julie
Zcpp, New Oxford, in dairy foods;
Debbie Wilkinson, Gettysburg!, in
horse and public speaking; Heath

mers and shows how great tasting and versatile dairy products
are when used in a variety of ways. 7 H
Win A Prize For Dairy
Recipe
EPHRATA (Lancaster Co.) In a salute to dairy far
mers, Lancaster Farming wants to show our readers how
versatile and great tasting dairy products arc in appetizers,
dips, soups, breads, main dishes, vegetables, desserts,
beverages, snacks, and salads. Arid, we want to give you
an opportunity to win a cow well, not a real one, but a
replica of one.
Jot down your favorite recipe using dairy products and
send it to Lancaster Farming for the annual Recipe Dairy
Drawing.
If your name is drawn, you will receive one of the fol
lowing prizes all highlighting the cow: Afghan, place
mats,- milk pitcher, mail box, porch mat, Jersey cow
plaque, Holstein cow plaque, towel rack, paper towel hol
der, stuffed cow, appliqued pillow top, padded photo
album, “Pennsylvania Farm Women Cookbook,” “From
Mother’s Cupboard Cookbook,” “TMR Cookbook,”
“Schuylkill Fair Cookbook,” or “Real Royal Recipes,”
recipes compiled by dairy princesses.
Please send your recipe using a sizable quantity of at
least one of the following ingredients: milk, cream, sour
cream, butter, yogurt, buttermilk, cottage cheese, ricotta
cheese, cream cheese, or any other hard or soft cheese.
Print or type your recipe and be sure to give accurate
measurements, temperatures, times, and sizes of baking
dishes to use. Be sure to print your name, full address, and
phone number on the recipe. Please include a few para
graphs about yourself or your family. Although n is not
required, we’d like a picture of you or your family to
include with the recipe.
All recipes submitted will be printed during the month
of June. Also, included will be the photo and sentences
telling us about yourself and your family. Our readers
especially like to read these tidbits of information as it
helps to make us feel like “family.” Even if you entered the
drawing other years, we want you to participate again.

Backlrackcrs 4-H Horse and Pony Club of Northamp
ton County is sponsoring a Youth Schooling Show to be
held Saturday, June S.
The show will be held at the Northampton County 4-H
Center, Bushkill Center Rd., Nazareth and will start at 9
a.m.
This show is open to any youth under the age of 19
years. It will offer lead line, walk-trot, open, jumping, and
gymkhanna classes throughout the day. Each class is $3
per entry. There will be a “special nonridcr” trail class of
fered during the day.
This show is offered as a learning experience for the
youth of the area. Francis Flavcn from New Hope will be
judging. It will be an informal show, so appropriate riding
boots and hard hats arc required. Entrants will receive help
and encouragement throughout the event. Ribbons and
