New Official DHIA
Testing Plans Offered
STATE COLLEGE (Centre
Co.) The new official DHIA
testing plans are available.
Those plans include the DHIA
AM/PM (code 31). DHIA Milk
Only (code 33). and DHIA Milk
Only AM/PM (code 34), and also
DHIR AM/PM.
To participate in a testing plan,
you need to contact your state
DHIA office at 1-800-325-2720,
or your technician for more
information.
Herds participating in any of
these testing plans will need to fol
low test-day procedures as
follows:
MILK: Milk weights are
obtained for all cows each test day
as prescribed for AP plans in
NCDHIP Rule 4, with the excep-
tion that a milking interval recor
der is not required. For MILK
ONLY herds, it is the same, except
no milk samples ate not taken.
COMPONENTS: Milk sam
pels are obtained for all cows each
test day as prescribed for AP plans
in NCDHIP Rule 4. For MILK
ONLY herds, no component data
are included in this plan.

A copy of the NCDHIP Rules
can be obtained by calling the stale
DHIA office, or by ordering
through a technician the next test
day.
The following is a revision of
Appendix 2 to the NCDHIP Rules,
which was effective as of October
1992.
“Bulk tank pickup milk weights
shall be recorded each test day for
monitoring 24-hour total herd
yield separately from the test day
milk weights of each cow. Ideally,
this should be accomplished by
reporting the three daily pickups
from the three days immediately
preceding each test day.
