Ben’s Cartoon
May 9 marks the birth of the newspaper cartoon in
America. The cartoon, “Join or Die,” was designed by
Benjamin Franklin and published at Philadelphia in his
Pennsylvania Gazette in 1754. Franklin used the illustration
to call for a union ol Britain’s thirteen colonies, a highly con
troversial opinion. The idea of using a drawing to deliver a
political message was a new one on this side of the Atlantic

Frozen Egg Report
Tuesday, April 27, 1993
The market tone remained unsettled.
Trading was irregular as buyers and sellers
had growing differences of opinions in
regard to values. Raw materials were more
available in instances but most breakers
were unaggressive and purchased accord
ingly. Floor stocks were adequate for cur
rent needs.
