Robert Heck man. president of the Oley Valley School JJoard, was the guest speaker. Several members are planning to attend the 2Sth anniversary of Group #B, at the Shartlesville Grange, April 30. York Society 26 York County Farm Women 26 met recently at B.C. Restaurant at Newberrytown. 17 members and 2 guests were present. The safety program was the main part of the meeting. The business meeting was chaired by President Ruth Traver. who rents a cabin and cultivates the gardens on the Kathy and Greg Landis property, has added beds with azaleas, rhododendrons, perennials, ferns, ornamental grasses, and annuals. Established holly trees, dogwoods, and fruit trees lend a special touch along with the pond water lilies. Group 26 will be entertained by Group 1 on June 16 at Rocky Ridge State Park off Mount Zion Road. The group’s 27th anniversary will be observed at the May meet ing with a guided walking tour of the historical sites in the city of York.. . Fifty-three members signed up to join the club at its first meet ing as activities for the year were planned. This si the 2Sth year for the Saddle Cinches 4-H, and special activities commemorating that event were discussed. Because of a grant from the state, the club will enlarge and upgrade its horse show ring facilities on Sunnyside Road near Manheim, and will hold a special “Old Timers” Show there in September, open for any one to compete who has been as sociated with the club as a leader, member, or parent in the past 25 years. In addition, the club will be holding a 25-year reunion on No vember 20 at Ruhl’s United and unusual shrubbery, and old fashioned bulbs, perennials, and annuals. Irving and Jennifer Hol lingshead will offer refreshments for tour participants and an oppor tunity to stroll their pond accented, rural landscape. Cost of the tour is $B.
