Broiler/Fryer Market
Wedncaday, April 2S, 1993
Movement of ieady-to-coolc whole birds
remained good overall, especially .on 3
pound and lighter sizes. Heavier weights
were at least adequate. Live supplies were
generally moderate; weights were desir
able to heavier than desired. Processing
schedules were veiy heavy. Less than
uucklot asking prices were unchanged to
mostly 1 cent higher at 54 to 65 cents.
Trade sentiment was firm to higher. In the
part complex, breast items were noted at
short or closely balanced, particularly
bone-in breasts. Leg quartets were adequ
ate to barely adequate and fhmly held at
most plants. Wings were in heaviest supply
and slow to clear.

Prices are trending about unchanged on
light type fowl but sales are too few to
repost on heavy hens. Leghorn availability
continues to fill most slaughter (dams to
desired capacities this week, however
some operations have limited space open
next week. Offerings of heavy hens are
short to about adequate for only fair and
unaggressive interest from buyers. Trade
sentiment generally steady. *

Tnicklot buying interest was about as
expected for mid-week. Supplies of bone
less skinless breasts continued to be short
of covering trade needs. Some sellers
asked higher prices for this morning's pro
duct Supplies of yellow skin line run
breasts were very tight while some while
skin product started to show. However
trucks were not available to move the pro
duct. Furthermore, most buyers were
becoming cautious at the higher asking
prices.
Yellow skin leg quarters were tight and
trading was reported at higher prices. Other
dark meat hems were balanced with cur
rent needs. Wings were available at some
locations and slow to dear.
