The dairy judging team from Alfred State College of Technology took first place at the annual New York Junior Holstein Association com petition April 3 at the NYS fair grounds in Syracuse. The team, coached by faculty member Matt Stewart of the col lege’s Agriculture and Horticul ture Department, bested teams from State University of New York at Morrisville, State Univer sity of New York at Cobleskill, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. In March, the college’s dairy judging team traveled to State col lege, to compete against 25 stu dents from Pennsylvania State University. This event served as an informal preparation for future compeilion, and “valuable experi ence was gained.” Alfred Slate faculty note. Two Alfred State stu dents Gourlcy and Elsbree placed in the top 10 in the non-team meet with Penn State.
