These Adams County 4-H
members will enter into competi
tion with 4-H members from
every part of the state. Each mem
ber’s comprehensive 4-H record
will be scored on the accomplish
ments of the member in 4-H.
The top four of five members in
each program area will be desig
nated “Keystone Winners” and
will be invited to Penn State Uni
versity on May 4 for a personal in
terview. As a result of the inter
view, a state winner will be select
ed for each program area from the
Keystone winners. The state win
ners will represent Pennsylvania
at National 4-H Club Congress
held this December in Chicago.
A total of 28 Adams County
4-H members entered the county
competition for 14-18 year olds.
Saddle Cinches 4-H
The Saddle Cinches 4-H Horse
and Pony Club of northwestern
Lancaster County held its reor
ganizational meeting recently at
Ruhl’s United Methodist Church,
north of Manheim.
Any youth between the ages of
8 and 19, as of January 1,1993, is
welcome to join, with or without a
horse. The club focuses on activi
ties that teach the various aspects
of horsemanship, hone safety, and
the responsibilities of owning a
horse. Besides holding gym
khanas and horse shows, the club
also participates in a variety of ac
tivities including trail rides, clin
ics, monthly meetings, commun
ity service projects, and a year-end
banquet in November.
Some special activities are
planned for this year, the 25th year
of the Saddle Cinches 4-H Club,
and current members and leaders
want to recognize those who have
helped with the success of the club
in the past quarter of a century.
A special reunion-awards ban
quet is planned for November 20,
with all former members and lead
ers invited to attend. Also, a spe
cial “old-timer’s” fun horse show
will be held sometime in Septem
ber and will be open to anyone as
sociated with the club in the past
25 years.
The club is trying to locate
members who have served as
president of the group during the
past 25 years. If you have served
