Through the gener osity of Maryland Holstein breed ers and friends, the number of scholarships given has grown from one at $3OO to present seven at $5OO. A Hoard’s Dairyman milk bottle brought the second highest price of $7OO. A wide variety of items were donated, including a 1992 World Champion Redskins autographed football, craft items, antique butter mold, honeymoon suite for two, golf date with Marlin Hoff, baskets filled with homemade rolls, jelly and butter, famous paintings, hand pierced lamp. The net proceeds of the auction were $11,312.50. The anxiety over the weather became very evident as table after table made an early exit to return home, some having a four- to five hour drive to the Eastern shore. Of those who decided to brave out the storm, 18 were stranded at the Holiday Inn in Grantsville until Sunday when Interstate 68 Was reopened.
