plaque for having the high-selling
animal at the Fall Classic held at
the county fairgrounds in Meyers
dale. The 2-year-old heifer Elk
Lick Ambers Mark brought
$3,000.
Ben Miller was recognized by
the club as the top salesperson for
cheese.
In other business, Andy Meier,
Friedens, resigned as a director be
cause he and his family will be re
locating. His term would have ex
pired in 1995.

Somerset Holstein Club Honors Members

torships. Mike Countryman. Ber
lin was elected director for a three
year term. Dan Kimmel, Boswell,
was elected to fill the unexpired
term of Andy Meier.
Dr. Robert Bastian from the
Somerset Animal Medical Center,
presided over the dinner meeting
and program. He was assisted by
Jane Smiley and Melissa Spory,
the Somerset County dairy prin
cess.
The association president, Mark
Marteeny, Somerset, was absent
because of a serious illness of a
family member.
Bob Yonkers, Penn State Uni
versity agricultural economist,
was the scheduled speaker for the
program, but was also unable to at
tend.
Other persons giving reports
were Paul Countryman, Jeff Hi'.le
gass, Andy Meier, Lewis Berkley
and Greg Coleman. Ken Raney,
State College, gave the Pennsylva
nia Holstein Association report.
Miss Spory invited eligible
young women to consider repre
senting the county dairy industry
by participating in the dairy prin
cess contest in June.
