The Blizzard of ’BB,
One hundred and five years ago the Northeast experienced
a blizzard worthy of the name. From March 11-14, 1888,
ten states were battered by a collision of two massive
storm fronts, leaving the area buried under three to five feet
of snow Four hundred people died m the storm, and an esti
mated $2O million worth of damage occurred in New York
City alone. Telephone and telegraph lines were down, and
trams were at a standstill from Washington, D.C., to Maine
