NATIONAL EGG MARKET - AT A
GLANCE; Prices were unchanged to high
er in the Northeast and Midwest,
unchanged elsewhere. The market tone
continued fully steady to firm. Demand
covered the full range, was mostly mod
erate, and was best where retail features
were in progress, and where wholesale
inquiry for additional eggs was active.
Supplies were barely adequate to generally
adequate, with jumbos often surplus in the
Midwest, and supplies were ample in some
West Coast locations. Breaking stock sup
plies were short to instances adequate, and
prices were generally higher. Live hen
markets remained at least steady with
offerings usually short of the current light
to good, and mostly moderate demand.

rose. Trade sentiment was cautious. Buy
ing activity was generally limited to imme
diate needs. Raw materials were held in
firm hands. Boor stocks were sufficient to
cover current trade requirements.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
was light and disappointing at most plants.
Offerings ranged fully adequate to ample
and difficult to place. Discounting was
noted at several plants on whole birds.
Weights were mixed and irregular in a full
range. Processing schedules were heavy.
Less than tracklot asking prices were
unchanged at 49 to 61 cents. Trade senti
ment was mostly weak. In the parts com
plex, activity was mixed. Breast items
were adequate to closely balanced. Leg
items were adequate to fully adequate.
Wings were fully adequate to ample.
