Eastern Meeting At Hershey
annual meeting scheduled for
March 16 at the Hershy Lodge and
Convention Center.
It is the first delegate meeting
that the 70-year-old cooperative is
to have in Hershey and only the
third meeting in Pennsylvania. The
delegate meeting is scheduled to
run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Based in Syracuse, N.Y., East
ern has 3,000 member farms
throughout the Northeast, with the
majority in Pennsylvnia, New
York and Vermont
"The farmer delegates will meet
to discuss the co-op’s operations,
including hearing reports from
management on performance in a
number of areas.” said Lewis
Gardner, cooperative president.
As president Gardner head the
co-op’s board of directors. He also
has a family farm in Galeton,
Pennsylvania.

1. Tower silo* consistently outperform bunker silos, plastic bags and big
round bales in preserving the total digestible nutrients in forage crops.
2. Tower silos give the highest level of palatablllty of stored forage crops
the result is greater dry matter consumption and higher production.
3. Tower silos eliminate weather as a factor since harvesting can be done
at the optimum stage of development.

that the delegates “will debate sev
eral proposals to change the
cooperative’s bylaws.” He also
said plans are for action on resolu
tions submitted by fanners con
cerning the group’s dairy policy.
The dairy promotion agenda in
Federal Milk Marketing Order
N 0.4, which includes Pennsylva
nia, is to be the topic of a luncheon
presentation by Dick Norton, gen
eral manager of Middle Atlantic
Milk Marketing Area (MAMMA)
promotion agency.
In conjunction with the delegate
meeting. Eastern Milk is planning
a Young Cooperator program for
young farmers to be held Match
15. The program is to include
roundtable discussions on water
quality, nuclear power issues, and
