Two-Cylinder Club Holds Banquet
PLUMSTEADVILLE (Bucks
Co.) The Bucks-Mont Two-
Cylinder Club held its first annual
banquet and Charter Night, recen
tly at the Plumsteadville Fire
House.
There were 167 present, includ
ing family and friends.
Tim Bock, Pennsylvania state
director of Two-Cylinder Club
Worldwide, Inc. presented the 12
directors with two-cylinder pins.
Roy S. Landis, club president,
accepted the charter on behalf of
the club.
A slide presentation of Amish
Life in Ohio was shown by Chuck
Strouse of Blooming Glen, after
which Bill Campbell, Newtown,
retired employee of I.G. Sales,
Silverdale, spoke on the develop
ment of the two-cylinder tractor.
Door prizes donated by club
members, as well as local mer
chants, were given away through
out the evening.
UNIVERSITY PARK (Centre
Co.) Clair Engle, associate pro
fessor of animal science, will be
spending the first six months of
1993 on sabbatical in New Zea
land learning about agriculture
technology transfer.
Engle will study firsthand how
the technology transfer system at
Massey University, Palmerston
North, might be implemented into
agriculture extension education
programs here in Pennsylvania.
Technology transfer, simply
stated, means moving new ideas
from laboratories to farm prac
tices. According to Engle, “Its
success depends on a partnership
of farmers and faculty who are
committed to planning and imple
menting new programs for im
proving a farmer’s profitability
and environmental practices.”
An industry user group concept
for agriculture technology transfer
was initiated in New Zealand in
the early 1980 s. The adoption and
success of this educational process

Engle To New Zealand
Clair Engle
has received recent international
attention for its positive impact
within the New Zealand livestock
and dairy industries during the last
10 years. It is also evidenced by
renewed enthusiasm in livestock
farming and increased interest in
applying new technology in re
gions where the user group con
cept has lasted for three or more
years.
