The annual Mid-Atlantic Brown Swiss Calf Sale is to be held 11a. m., Saturday, April 24, at the Freder ick Fairgrounds, in Fre derick, Md. The sale has a reputa tion for providing high quality, affordable, ani mals. The uses of calves purchased in the past range from 4-H projects to providing some top calves for more compe titive showing, mer chandising or invest ment buying. Officials with the Brown Swiss Breeders Association, in a news release, said they are seeking “a strong group of calves that combine a unique blend of produc tion and sound type” for consignments to this year’s sale. *,*. Hm | * f < According to the relase, the quality of past animals being marketed through the association sale has been good. “There were two con signments from the 1992 sale that went on to do well for their new owners. The senior heif er calf was just named the Maryland Junior Bell Ringer, owned by Aimee Smith, of Woods boro, Md. ■i> * : s i “Also, another out standing senior calf did well in the show ring for Howard and Norma Fliming, of Hollywood, Md.
