I’M PICKING LOW RISK HYBRIDS FOR 1993
By Bill Camerer
I'm Bill Camerer, Doebler's research director. It took a ton of computer
data to verify best low risk buys for 1993.
Here are my top picks for 1993 as
advertised. But it wasn't easy.
Competition was tough. And maybe
I was too conservative. I looked for
"low risk" hybrids, ones that are
widely adapted and have shelled
big year after year.
Some hybrids I named twice. As
an early corn in late midseason
country for instance and again as
my early mid pick.
But also consider these risk
reducers:
Plant at least four hybrids.
Limit acres of your first time
hybrids to 15 or 20%.
Only buy hybrids that fit your
maturity range.
Stagger maturities to reduce
weather risks.
