Angus world will be centered on
the United States in 1993 when the
American Angus Association
hosts the Seventh World Angus
Forum here September 19-21.
Representing virtually every
major Angus breeding country in
the world, breeders from 15
nations are expected to attend.
The World Forum was last held
in the United States in 1973,
according to Richard L. Spader,
executive vice president of the
American Angus Association and
secretary of the World Aberdeen-
Angus Secretariat, the parent
organization of the Forum. The

U.S. To Host World Angus Forum

others a comprehensive look at the
U.S. Angus and beef cattle indus
try, the American Angus Associa
tion is planning a unique Angus
Across America tour, September
13-26. It will begin on Monday
evening, September 13, in St.
Joseph, Missouri, home of the
American Angus Association.
After an open house at the Associ
ation office, and a meeting of the
delegates to the World Aberdeen-
Angus Secretariat, the group will
begin the first leg of the tour. They
will view farming, cattle raising
and feeding operations in Mis-
Pennsylvania
, Farmers
souri, lowa, and eastern Nebraska.
After a visit to Husker Harvest
Days near Hastings, Neb., guests
will travel through the famed
Nebraska Sandhills ranch country
and arrive in Rapid City, on Satur
day, September 18.
The World Forum is set for
Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday,
September 19-21. It will kick off
with a cattle disply, Native Ameri
can dancing, an Old West Bar
becue dinner, and a trip to the
famed Mt. Rushmore National
Monument for the dramatic night
lighting ceremony.
The formal program Monday,
September 20, will explore the
theme, "ANGUS-A World of
Opportunity.” Speakers will out
line how Angus cattle fit into the
world beef production scheme.
Special guest speaker at the noon
lunch will be NASA Astronaut
Union
and Angus Breeder Mark Lee. In
addition, country representatives
will report on the status of Angus
cattle and the Angus business
around the world.
On Tuesday, September 21, the
Black Hills Angus Association
will sponsor a tour of the Black
Hills and cattle operations in the
area. The lour will complete the
three-day World Forum program.
At that point the short version of
the Angus Across America tour
will return to St. Joseph and Kan
sas City, traveling east across
South Dakota then south through
eastern lowa. The remainder of
the group will leave Rapid City for
the second half of the “Angus
Across America” tour. This por
tion of the tour will lake a close
look at the Angus business in
Montana, and join, for one day,
the famous Montana Angus tour.

Grand Teton National Park before
arriving at the International Air
port in Denver, Colorado, on Sun
day, September 26.
