The need to enlighten area con
sumers and retailers about the val-
ue of pork must be strengthened
more so than ever, according to
Ron Butt, president of the associa
tion. He told the 124 members pre
sent that pork on Lancaster County
market shelves is often not from
the area, and more area markets
need to be formed. Butt said even
though the market is not vertically
integrated as is the poultry market,
producers should get in touch with
representatives to put image of
pork in a more favorable light.
At the meeting, the following
directors were elected: Lancaster
County: Marlin Becker, Kurds
Good, and Scott Bailey. From
Chester County, Nelson Beam.
