Boyd Koester
Boyd Koester, 17, of Westfield, is the
son of Richard and Dorothy Koester, and a
four-year member of the Co wanesque FFA
Chapter. He has been involved in land,
forest, dairy, and livestock juding, partici
pated in the All American Junior Dairy
men Contest, Alfred State Dairy Judging
contest, FFA Week for the past four years,
and he attended the 1992 FFA National
Convention. He has earned Greenhand,
Chapter, and County degrees and a fruit
and vegetable proficiency award. He said
his plans are to attend Sealingsgrove
Welding School, W i l l, and become a cer
tified welder, and then seek a position
incorporating his welding skills with fore
stry and wildlife.

past four years. The son of Mr. and Mrs,
Glen Krall, Jason has worked on dairy herd
and field com projects, but also served as
chairman of his chapter’s recreation,
supervised fanning, alumni relations, loc

Star Greenhand, Chapter Farmer, and
County Fanner degrees. He was a member
of the first place state pasiamentary proce
dure tearm in 1989 and 1990, and took
sixth place in dairy judging in area compet
ition. He attended the national covention,
the Washington Conference Program, and
the Pennsylvania Council of Cooperatives
meetings. He said he would like to eventu
ally take over his father’s dairy operation.
William P. Krape
William Krape, 18, son of Paul and
Catherine Krape, of Rebersburg, is a four
year member of the Penns Valley FFA
Chapter, for which he currently serves as
president His projects include raising
dairy heifers and field com. He has also
served on the chapter’s PSU freshman
leadership and care of school ornamentals
committees, and was chairman of the con
duct of meetings and program of work
committees. He has been involved in trac
tor driving, interview, and parliamentary
procedure contests. He has also attended
the SUN Area Leadership Conference and
attended the freshman leadership confer
ence in 1990 and again as an officer this
past year.

a four-year
member of West
Perry FFA. She has been involved in dairy
herd, dairy beef, and sweet com projects
and service on the chapter’s trip, banquet,
donkey ball, calendar, and scrapbook com
mittees. She has also served as chapter sen
tinel and secretary, and has earned Green
hand, Chapter, and Area degrees. She was
a member of the paliamentary procedure
team, which took fifth place in the state
contest, was a third place finalist in the
area extemporaneous speaking contest,
and won a gold award for the SAE record
book contest She said her plans are to run
for state FFA office and attend college for
agriculture.

His achievements include Star Greenhand,
Green hand. Chapter Fanner, Couty FFA
Degree, and Star Chapter Fanner degrees
and he served as the chapter’s trearurer and
the county’s sentinel. He said his plan is to
become a dairy farmer.
Mike Lepley
Mike Lepley,
17, of Meyers-
dale, is the son
of Dwight Lep
ley and Patricia
Johnson. The
current president
of the Somerset
County FFA, he is also president of his
Meyersdale FFA Chapter, and has also
served as its secretary. He has served on
the chapter’s participation, leadership,
scholarship, conduct of meetings, and ban
quet committees, and played FFA volley
ball for four years and FFA softball for
three years. He said his achievements
include the Star Greenhand and Star Chap
ter Farmer degrees. He also earned a gold
medal at the state interview contest, parti
cipated in county parliamentary and
speech contests, and has also competed at
regional level for parliamentary and
speech, in addition to taking a bronze med
al in the state for for record book keeping.
He said he plans to enroll at Frostburg
State University and pursue a degree in
environmental analysis.

and several other leadership conferences.
She also served on her chapter’s leader
ship. scholarship, and earnings, savings
and investments, alumni relations, com
munity service, cooperation, and SAE
committees. She has also been chapter
reporter and vice president and has earned
her Greenhand, Star Greenhand, and
Chapter Farmer degrees, and was named
outstanding freshman. She said she plans
to attend college and pursue a degree in
agricultural education.

James and Dianna Lydic, Marion Center,
she was an active FFA member and
showed the 1992 Junior Champion Jersey
at the Western Region FFA Dairy Show.
She had served as chapter treasurer and
secretary and won an award for top bruit
salesman in 1991. She won beef produc
tion awards and dairy production awards
and served on the chapter’s Food For
America, banquet and fund raising com
mittees. She had plans for college and is
sadly misfeed by family and friends.
