CHICAGO, 111.—The Chicago
Mercantile Exchange is challeng
ing students of agriculture to cash
in on their writing skills by enter
ing the 1993 Beef Industry or Pork
Industry Scholarship Programs,
administered respectively by the
National Cattlemen’s Foundation
(NCF) and the National Pork Pro
ducers Council (NPPC).
A total of eight $2,500 scholar
ships will be awarded through the
two scholarship programs. The
four beef industry scholarship
winners will be announced at the
National Cattleman’s Association
Convention in January and the
four pork industry scholarship

To qualify for one of the eight
scholarships, students must:
■ Be enrolled in a two-year
swine program or in the College of
Agriculture at a four-year
institution;
■ Write a brief letter indicating
what role the student anticipates
playing in the industry after
graduation;
■ Write an original 750 word
essay,- identifying an issue con
