Waltimyer had won the show last year, also with a crossbred steer. In addition to the supreme championship, the IS-year-old son of Harley and Carol Waltimyer showed the Simmental breed champion. Earlier at the fair he won the 4-H Market steer show. Shawn has been showing steers in 4-H for eight years. The reserve champion of the show followed the grand champion from the Other Breeds division for Ben Stine, East Berlin. Stine was playing football, so his winning steer was shown by Jamie Boyer. Reserve breed champion Sim mental was shown by Jarrod Schid ing, Dallastown. K & K Cattle Co. Fleetwood, showed the Chianina champion. In the Hereford breed, Jennifer Altobelli, Dover, showed the champion, and Jason Frantz, Seven Valleys, showed the reserve champion. Temmi Grubb, Hanover, showed the champion Angus and Kelly Myers, Thomasville, had the Joyce Bupp York Co. Correspondent YORK (York Co.) For the second consecutive year, the judge smacked the muscular rump of Shawn Waltimyer’s entry to designate the Airville young man as champion winner in the York Fair’s 4-H market steer show. The 1175-pound, light heavy weight class winner is a Maine- Anjou crossbred and one of two weight division winners exhibited by the 15-year-old Airville beef exhibitor. Waltimyer also took the lightweight division with a second steer entry. Tammi Grubb picked up her first reserve champion win with “Alex,” her 1090-pound Angus entry which took mediumweight class honors. Tammi, 11, resides with her family near Hanover. Shive is 81 years-old and has attended about 35 shows at the York Fair. “Over the years the cattle have changed,” Shive said. “First they were low to the ground. Then they turned and grew them tall, maybe too tall. Now they have come back to a more moderate size.” he said.
