NATIONAL EGG MARKET - AT A
GLANCE; Prices trended higher for
mediums m the Northeast, otherwise prices
were unchanged. The trade sentiment was
about steady with some caution showing
on the larger sizes. Movement of cartoned
eggs ranged light to instances very good
with the best call where features were in
progress. Supplies of extra large were fully
adequate to ample and offered; large were
at least adequate; and mediums ranged
adequate to tight. Breakers took a wait and
see approach. Trading and demand was
light and nest run prices were unchanged.
Demand for light type hens was light
Some flocks previously booked were
rescheduled for later pick-up.

Prices trended higher on mediums,
unchanged on the larger sizes. The trade
sentiment was cautiously steady on large,
steady to fully steady on mediums. Move
ment of cartoned eggs into retail channels
was fair. Supplies of extra large were fully
adequate, offered, and slow to clear. Large
were at least adequate, and mediums were
in close balance. The New Jersey inventory
was 15% below last Monday's level, and
the New York inventory was 21% below
last week.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
was moderate to good. Offerings were,
adequate and in fairly good balance
Slaughter schedules remained heavy. Live
supplies were moderate. Weights were
mixed and generally desirable. Less than
trucklot asking prices were unchanged at
47 to 59 cents. Trade sentiment was steady
to firm. In the parts complex, breast items
remained tight and wanted. Leg quarters
continued to clear well at higher prices.
Wings were in closer balance and several
sellers noted demand as generally good
Both the demand and supply of drums and
thighs varied by plant.
