This award, the “Tina Shultz Memorial Award,” is in memory and honor of the out standing young lady, who in May 1986 succumbed to cancer, during her reign as Huntingdon County Dairy Princess. The annual Apple Extravaganza and Craft Show marks the start of the fall harvest of apples and pumpkins. Sharon Hodge, craft show coordinator, said that local crafters will show and offer for sale their hand made items including woodwork, dried flowers, baskets, stuffed fabric, minia tures, baby and children items, ceramics and much more. Other special activi ties on the farm include a Pedal Tractor Pull for children on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. both days. Pony rides and hayrides will be going on throughout both days. Face painting, scare crow making, and many other fun activities, which include apple bobbing and golf put ting, will be held for children of all ages. Farm yard pets will also be awaiting your visit. Free demonstrations of cider pressing, apple peeling/coring equip ment and apple sauce making will be given throughout the weekend. Cider will be available for sale in our Farm Market. Country and folk music will be per formed by Charlie and Friends on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. On Sunday after noon, country and folk music will be per formed by the Brandy wine Friends from noon to 4. Red Delicious, Gol den Delicious, Empire and Jonagold will be available to pick the weekend of the festival. Stayman, a tart apple, Ida Red and Mutsu, a large firm yellow apple will be available the end of September. Wine saps, Red Romes and Granny Smith will be available to pick in Mid-October. Highland Orchards is a family owned and managed business in West Bradford Town ship. Just over 350 acres of fruits and veg etables are grown.
