The 1992 Susquehanna County Livestock Sale was bigger and better than ever, with the premier buyer, Wyalusing Sales, purchas ing 22 animals out of a total of 76. The highest price per pound was $6.30, paid by Peoples Na tional Bank for Nick Hawley’s grand champion market hog. The reserve grand champion brought $3.90 per pound for owner Ronnie Sands. It was bought by the Coun ty Bank of Montrose. The average weight of the 43 hogs consigned was 213 pounds. The average price per pound was $1.31. Several hogs brought in ex cess of $250, ranging downward from the $6.30 price for the grand champion to a low of 800 per pound. The grand champion steer was a 1,225-pound Aberdeen Angus, consigned by owner Heidi Ste vens. This animal was acquired by the de Naples Auto Parts Com pany and commanded $1.95 per pound. The reserve grand cham pion market steer was sold to Bingham’s Restaurant for $1.55 per pound. This was the 4-H pro ject of Scott Mitchell. The average weight of the 18 steers consigned was 1,145 pounds. These brought an average of 990 per pound, with a range from $1.95 to a low of 750.
