Cumberland County 4-Hers went home with awards for their scrapbooks and dollars for their pockets after the county 4-H Livestock Roundup Sale at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds. That animal was bought by Gordon Dey for $240. The reserve champion goat was an 84-pound animal raised by An drew Rook of Newville. Rook UNDER THE OF QUALITY sold his goat to Dey for $l2O. The total sale price for all seven goats entered in the roundup was $B2O, for an average of $117.14 a head. Leib also had the. champion market hog, a 220-pounder that he sold to Hoss’s Steak & Sea House for $4.10 a pound. Roger Finkenbinder of Carlisle sold his 237-pound reserve cham pion hog to Hatfield Quality Meats for $3 a pound. The champion pair of hogs was raised by Michelle Comman of Carlisle. She sold those animals, which weighed 114 and 113 pounds, to Hatfield for 81 cents .a pound. All 74 hogs in competition at the roundup brought in a total of $17,419, for an average of $235 a head and $1.02 a pound. In the steer competition, Eric Berkeimer of Mechanicsburg took champion honors with his 1,300 animal. The reserve champion was a 1,150-pound steer raised by Bobby Davidson of Shippensburg. Berkheimer’s animal was bought by Moss’s for $3.60 a pound. Western Sizzlin’ Steak house purchased Davidson’s steer for $1.70 a pound.
