ter Co.) —Peter Hoffines of Mar
ietta showed a Charolais cross to
win the Beef Show at the Eli
zabethtown Fair on Wednesday.
“Barney” was chosen for his thick
ness and frame.
He is the son of Linda and
Robert Hoffines, who own a beef
and chicken farm. Hoffines raises
three steers. He is in 11 th grade and
a member of FFA at Elizabethtown
High School and has shown beef
for three years.
Judge Bobby Livingstone of
York County chose the Angus
Cross owned by David Bollinger
of Manheim for the reserve
champion. Bollinger is the son of
Darryl and Ruby Bollinger and is a
ninth grader and FFA student at
Manheim Central High School.
Top showmanship awards went
to Jason Stoltzfus, senior division;
Amy Hoffines, intermediate divi
sion; and John Hess, beginner
division.

class. (NOTE; An animal can be entered in either the 100,000 pound class, or an indi
vidual class, not both.)

Each animal competing mutt be registered in the Herd Book of the Hoittein-
Freitian Association of America in the name of its Junior exhibitor and meet the
requirements of Junior project work and for exhibition at 4-H, FFA, or Junior state
shows or fain. The exhibitor must be the tote owner of the animal at all shows in
which the it exhibited.
The tide mutt be by Jan. 1,1992 for 2-year-olds and older cattle, and May 1,1992
for calves and yearlings.
The title of aD animals more than 2 yean old in this competition mutt be shown on
the registry certificates with ownenhip recorded by Jan. 1,1992 as shown by the filing
date on the transfer. The date of ownenhip on animals showing at yearlings and calves
must be recorded by May 1,1992. All ownenhip records will be checked by the Hols
tein Association of America and their decision on eligibility under this rule will be
final.
Upon recommendation of the Extension Committee and management of Holrtein
Anociation of America, and in line with the mlei for 4-H exhibition in the great
majority of thowi, all entriei mud Hand on the anociation record! in the individual
name of the exhibitor. Senior-Junior family pattnenhipa will not be acceptable.
QUALIFICATION FOR ENTRY
To qualify for entry in the Junior All-Permlylvania contest, an animal mutt have
competed in junior das set at their own county, district, state or regional show to estab
lish their junior eligibility on their home grounds and regardless of winnings in open
classes elsewhere. Junior division placing! at the national shows will not qualify an
animal.
Closing date for the receipt of entries in the Junior All-Pennsylvania Awards Con
test it Nov. 1. Entry it completed by submitting a suitable, profession at picture of
each eligible animal, together with a completed entry blank. These pictures and entry
blanks should be sent to the Pennsylvania Holstein Association, 839 Benner Pike,
State College, PA, 16801. Pictures sized 5-inches by 7-inches ate preferred.
All entries will be given consideration by die Junior All-Pennsylvania Judging
Committee.
