Note From PA
Holstein Association
STATE COLLEGE. (Centre
Co.) The Pennsylvania Hols
tein would like to recognize and
thank those who helped make our
picnic a success at Evergreen
Farms. Our very gracious hosts,
the R. Wayne Harpster Family,
had their facilities ready and were
very open and polite hosts.
The following Exhibitors and
Sponsors enabled all who attended
to enjoy the day and visit and see
the behind the scenes work that
went into Evergreen Farms new
facilities.

are to be notified by the
end of September if
their job is on the hit list.
There are currently
220 hourly and 45 salar
ied people working at
Mountville, according
to the newspaper report.
The plant is 50 years
old.
Although the com
pany has been laying off
employees ever since it
was purchased a couple
years ago by the Italian
Fiat company, officials
reportedly said that an
overly optimistic out
look had sustained
employee levels for
some time, but that
company management
now realizes that the
market for its products
has permanently
diminshed.
Other Ford New Hol
land operations are also
being shut down as
company heads said that
this is a rare opportunity
to restructure the plant
for future efficiency.
Company officials
said that the New Hol
land plant will remain
open as a sales and pro
duction site.
