STOCKYARDS WEEKLY CATTLE
SUMMARY: Compared with last week;
Feeder steers over 700 lbs. firm to $2.00
higher; under 700 lbs. $2.00- $3.00 higher.
Heifers and heifer calves $l.OO-53.00
higher. Trade very active. Demand excel
lent for all classes. Buyers continued
aggressive for numbers which was again
reflected in the good demand for plain
quality cattle. Quality of supply plain to
attractive, mostly average. Bulk offerings
were steers and heifers over SSO lbs. with
many No. 1 and Mixed 1-2 Brahma cross
included. Weigh-ups ran from gaunt to
full, mostly gaunt to average which was
more attractive to buyers than last week.
Flesh condition remains green and attrac
tive, moderately thin through slightly
fleshy. Rainfall since May has been excel
lent. This season thought to be best for
moisture and pasture conditions in over
thirty years. Slaughter cows steady
Slaughter bulls $l.OO lower. Moderate to
good demand for slaughter cattle. Receipts
this week 10,650; last week 7,929, last year
5,086. Supply consisted of 82% yearlings
over 600 lbs,; 15% calves; 3% cows and
bulls. Bulk prices follow; weighted aver-
