    Somerset Beef Producers Hold Jackpot Show

Co.) More than 105 animals
were in competition at the Som
erset Co. Beef Jackpot Show held
at the county fairgrounds here.
Judging this event for the first
time, Kent Carrothers, Coggin,
lowa, said the animals were of
with his grand champion steer at the Somerset County
Beef Jackpot Show. Judge Kent Carrothers, Coggln, lowa,
is with him.

Co. repeated his 1990 perfor
mance by taking the grand champ
ion honors with his 1992 steer.
Ryan Luellen, 17, Mooreland, had
the reserve grand champion.
Heather Fuls, 11, Berlin, was
named Somerset County champ

ion exhibitor. The daughter of
Kevin and Karen Fuls, she bought
her steer from Klinger Farms in
Missouri.
Dan Ferko, 18, Central City,
was Somerset County reserve
champion exhibitor. Doubling the
sweetness for Ferko, his steer was
chosen grand champion sale ani
mal from the Club Calf Sale, held
last October. It was purchased
from Rachael and Greta Mostoll
er, Boswell.
Other county exhibitor winners
were Jerry Ferko, Kevin Stahl,
and Lindsey Schmuck. Reserve
sale champion was Tim Bishop.
Other Club Calf Sale winners
were Derrick Crane, Chris
Schmuck, and Ben Logan.
“They (steers) are well-fed and
well-presented,” said Carrothers.
“I’m impressed with the kids,” he
said, stating that their behavior
was courteous. He also noted with
approval the young ages of some
of the kids handling the animals in
the five-hour show.
