British Co-op Reps Visit Dairylea
Dairylea Chief Executive Officer Rick Smith, far left, meets with officials from the
British cooperative Midland Shires Farmers Limited. It is one of Britian’s largest
cooperatives. Chairman of the British co-op is Alan Beckett, far right. Three directors
and their wives, from left, are David and Cathieen Weaver, John and Wyn Tyrrell, and
Richard and Penny Colwill. The group recently met at Dairylea headquarters in East
Syracuse, N.Y., where Smith presented a historical overview of the co-op and dis
cussed the various member programs Dairylea offers. In addition, the group toured
Eastview Farm in Fabius, N.Y., owned by Dale Van Erden. The visit by the British co-op
officials was part of a tour of various cooperatives in the Northeast to learn about the
cooperative way of doing business in the United States.
