Mr. Bojangles
National Tap Dance Day is celebrated May 25, the birthday
of Mr Bill "Bojangles" Robinson Known to many as “The
King of Tap Dancers." he was simply "Uncle Billy” to
Shirley Temple, who worked with hr~ '
many movies It was Uncle Billy who ti
the child star the dances in The
Colonel , their first film together, and
one which featured the memorable stai
case dance Shirley recalls that rehear
mg over and over with a superlative
and kindly teacher was exhilarating
rather than drudgery For those of you
who remember excitedly watching the
perfectly matched triple-time tap race
up and down the stairs, here's some ad
vice from Bojangles "Limp wrists,
loose in the shoulders There, that's
it 1 Copacelic 1 Now let's get your feet
attached to your ears "
You need more than dancing shoes to he a dancer.
cs- A little vinegar added to dishwater will help cut the grease.
