Weber Looks Forward To
Reunion For FFA Officers
“In a way, I was surprised I got it
Harold Fogel, who was also run
ning, had an older brother, Don,
who had been state president.
With that kind of insight into the
ins and outs of being president 1
thought for sure, Harold would get
it" One particular member of
Weber’s team that he vividly
recalls is Dan Hackenburg of Mid
dleburg. “Dan was into bees and
when all of the rest of us were
referring to our ’Homes’, Dan was
not talking about the same thing -
his honey was not his girlfriend,
but a hive of insects.” Dan today is,
still a bee specialist and has been
President of the Pennsylvania
Apiary Association.
“As a national officer, I loved
flying around the country - espe
cially when Ralston-Purina car
ried our team around on their pri
vate Lear jet Several times the
pilot would allow me to sit in the
Co-pilot’s chair and this is where
my love of flying began.” Today
Glen Weber is a flight instructor
with a multi-engines rating. For
the last fifteen years, in his “free
time” he has been doing commer
cial charter work.
After completing his national
officer tenure. Glen returned to
Penn State University and
received his degree in agriculture
education and ag economics. He
married his high school
sweetheart, Lucy Yoder, and
began teaching agriculture at
Manheim High School in Lancas-

tor County.
Two years later, Lucy and Glen
started their own business, a con
venience store called Country
Acres. “We had our own deU
recipes for things such as potato
and macaroni salad and we started
making potato chips to sell in the
store. We took things one step at a
time. Pretty soon we had built up
to four convenience stores.” From
potato salad to potato chips, Glenn
got into the commercial potato
chip manufacturing business. He
is now president and owner of
King’s Potato Chips in Bowmans
ville. And Lucy, his wife, has one
of Lancaster County’s most suc
cessful catering businesses. All
Season’s Catering.
Parents of three boys, Glen now
can relive FFA experiences
through his oldest son, Jason, who
is a freshman FFA’er at Garden
Spot High School. Glen and his
son share a love for the breeding
and training of Tennessee walking
horses, which are all located on
the Weber Farm in Bowmansville.
Glen is also President of the Penn
sylvania Walking Horse
Association.
Is there another Weber in the
future of the state FFA and nation
al officer teams? Don’t count it
out • Jason as a freshman received
the Garden Spot Chapter’s Star
Greenhand Award. And as Glen
points out, “The big goal is
accomplished by doing the little
things, one day at a time.”
