Rod and Tim have been working with their local Purina
dealer, Warriors Mark Feed Center, since the spring of 1990.
At that time their cows were averaging 57 Ibs/cow.* After 2
years on Purina, their RHA is 21,527 lbs. of milk on 32 cows, of
which 22 are first calf heifers.
“We like the Purina program because of the convenience.
We don’t have to spend time weighing and mixing a lot of
ingredients. Purina can give us a high quality, palatable con
centrate that balances our forage program while at the same
time is easy to work with. We are also pleased with the
nutritional service provided by our local Purina dairy
specialist.”
Rod and Tim feed a one-group TMR consisting of haylage,
dry hay, dry shelled corn, and Purina Maxi-Tech 32FF.
Currently the cows are averaging 72 Ibs/cow with a 3.6% BF
and a 3.1% Protein. “Considering the poor quality forages
we’ve had to work with this year, we feel cow performance
has been super.”
