The twenty-third annual Ephrata Area Young Farmer’s banquet was held last Saturday evening at the Mt Airy Fire Hall. A major feature of the evening was the pre sentation of the annual awards. These awards were given as follows: Outstanding Young Fanner Under 30 Nevin S. Homing: Nevin and his wife, Denise, reside at 302 Buch Mill Rd. Lilitz. Their farming operation consists of SO cows and 40 replacement heifers. They farm 80 acres of com and alfalfa. They both are active in the Mctzler’s Mennonite Church serving as Youth Advisors and Nevin is one of the three Sun day School superintendents and , - ighi, Calvin jmer man, produce production; Leonard Martin, active member; and Melvin Nolt, beef production. See It Now... also leads singing. Nevin also served our chapter this past year as our President-elect. They arc the happy parents of one daughter, Dcstince. Outstanding Young Farmer Over 30 Tom Zartman: Tom and his wife, Barbara, and along with their son, Tom and daughter, Renee, reside at 820 Hilltop Rd., Ephrata. Their dairy ing operation consists of ISO cows and dairy replacement heifers. They farm a total of 500 acres, which consists of com. alfalfa, and soybeans. Tom is also chair man of the Clay Township Board of Supervisors. He is chairman of the Y.F. food stand at Tent City and is also involved in the Hog show. Hoover, Inc. (Agway) in Ephrata. Henry through the years has given time and a lot of support to our chapter. In the past he coor dinated educational field trips to the Agway Research Farm in Syr acuse, New York and to a Agway herbicide test plot in New Jersey. Henry hosted welding demonstra tions and water testing meetings at his place of business. On different occasions Henry helped Mr. Ack ley get various resource people to speak at our Adult Farmer meet ings. His moisture tester was always available when we needed one for crop yield checks.
