The Beef Promotion Operating Committee met in Phoenix, Ariz. recently to review evaluations of fiscal year 1990-1991 beef checkoff programs. The Operating Committee’s review was part of the Beef Prom otion and Research Board’s annual cycle of planning, implementa tion, and evaluation. The annual evaluation process is designed to ensure that checkoff LOUISVILLE, Ky. Grand champion bull honors were awarded in the National Chianina Show at the 1991 North American International Livestock Exposition. The finalists came from three divisions of Chianina bulls. The first division is comprised of full blood Chianina and white purebred Chianina that are marked like fullblood. Division two is made up of registered Chiangus and CAX cattle with at least 25 percent Chianina blood. Division three is all Chianina with at least 25 per cent Chianina blood that do not qualify for divisions one or two. Grand champion chianina bull went to SMF Lassiter owned by Walt Dickson of Knoxville, Tenn. The division one bull exhibited necessary characteristics required from judge Scott Schaakc. "What I really liked about him was his length and soundness," saidSchaake.
