Somerset County 4-H Holds Recognition Dinner

Above 400 persons attended the
annual county 4-H Recognition
dinner held at the community cen
ter. Matt Welch, president of the
county 4-H council, welcomed the
guests and vice-president, Katina
Showman gave the invocation.
Vincent Barbera, president of
the Somerset County 4-H Deve
lopment Fund, performed the vari
ous introductions. He found him
self the victim of assorted and
unending jokes as those whom he
introduced accepted the micro
phone from him. When he told the
guests, with pseudo-pride, that
county home economist, Marie
Kieffer had been his teacher of
public speaking, she was quick to
respond.
“I’m really sorry I taught Vince
public speaking because he hasn’t
shut up since!”
Scholarship and endowment
fund contributions for the evening
totaled $5,275. Recipients were
