She plants them the same way as watermelons. She finds that citrons are hardier than watermelon. In fact, one year, the citron field was plowed over for the winter and it came up the next year. Adams 4-H To Sell Capons GETTYSBURG (Adams Co.) Are you looking for a delicious main course to serve on Thanks giving Day? Why not a Capon? Adams County 4-H members will be exhibiting their 4-H capons at 4-H Capon Round-up Tuesday, November 26, at the Cashlown Fireball. The Cashtown Lions Club and the Adams County Poul try Association co-sponsor the round-up which begins at 6:30 p.m. with dinner followed by a public auction of all the capons exhibited. Each 4-H member is required to exhibit one pair of matched dressed capons at Round-up. They are judged on finish; dressing; freedom from cuts, bruises, tears, and pin feathers; properly pack aged, and straightness of the breastbone and weight. The Capon project is one of over 100 different project areas youth 8-19 years old can get involved in as a member of 4-H. 4-H Capon Round-up is a culmi nation of a year of long hard work for these 4-H members. The pro ject involves raising at least 20 capons starting at 3 weeks of age until they weigh approximately 9 pounds dressed weight. The mem bers are involved in the day to day care of the birds, keeping financial records, and marketing.
